What we are learning:
Reading- We are on Unit 3, week 3. The story of the week is George Washington Visits. The question of the week is: How is life today different from life hundreds or years ago? The phonics skill is /d/ spelled Dd. The comprehension skill is cause and effect. Grammar skill is verbs that add -s. The amazing words for this story are: celebration, sprinted, barn, blacksmith, arch, soldier. The high-frequency words are: see, look.
Math- We will be wrapping up Unit 2: Numbers 11-20. The essential question of the week is: how do we read, write, and count numbers up to 20? Please work with your child on counting, identifying, representing, and writing numbers 11-20. In Spring Math, we are working on finding the missing number up to 10. You can help by working with your child on identifying and writing numbers up to 10, and counting forward and backward up to 10.
Writing- We are on Unit 4 of writing. We are still working on writing lowercase letters, but we are also working on writing sentences and whole words. We are working on beginning sentences with a capital letter, ending with a period, and leaving spaces between words.
