Week of September 9th-13th

We had a great second week of school!!

September 16th- Scholastic book orders are due. Orders can be placed online at scholastic.com/bookclubs using our class code: VZ4WG or send in orders and money to the teacher in your child's blue folders- cash or check made payable to Scholastic Book Clubs.


What we are learning:

Reading: This week we are starting Unit 1, Week 2. The story of the week is We Are So Proud. The question of the week is: How do school children work and play together? The phonics skill is syllables. The comprehension skill is setting. Our amazing words are: proud, preparation, cooperation, creation, float, guide. We are learning letters the following letters (uppercase and lowercase): Ff, Gg, Hh, Ii, Jj, Kk, Ll, Mm, Nn. The high-frequency words are: I, am.

Math: This week in math we will be starting Unit 6- 2D shapes and 3D solids. Our essential question for this week is: How do we classify and sort objects? We will identify 2-dimensional shapes, including circles, triangles, rectangles, and squares.

Writing: We will begin lessons this week with learning proper pencil grip and starting our numbers/letters “at the top”. Our wooden pieces used to make numbers/letters will be introduced as well.

Social Studies: We will continue learning the SPARTY rules. Since our question of the week is about children working and playing together, will we be learning about how to work and play together.
