What we are learning:
Reading- We are beginning Unit 4, week 1. The story of the week is Rooster’s Off to See the World. The question of the week is: What can we learn from our adventures? The phonics skill is /h/ spelled Hh. The comprehension skill is sequence. The amazing words for this story are: world, lonely, trip, horizon, journey, homesick. The high-frequency words: are, that, do

Math- We are on Unit 3: Comparing Numbers. The essential question of the week is: how can numbers from 0 to 20 be ordered and compared? You can help your child by working with them on comparing numbers 0-20 (identifying  the number that is greater or smaller) and writing/arranging numbers 0-20 in order.
In Spring Math, students are working on counting circles and circling the corresponding number using numbers 1-20

Report Cards were sent home on Friday. Please sign and return Report Card envelopes!

Week of January 20th-24th

Just a note:

DIBELS Math and Reading scores have been sent home if your child was present both days of DIBELS testing. I am so proud to see the progress my students are making! Great work!!

Reminders:
  • Please continue to work on identifying letters and letter sounds, rhyming words and counting from 0 to 100 with your child.
  • Please continue to read a book each night with your child and document it in their reading log! If your child reads 15 books per month, they will receive a Pizza Hut certificate.
  • Ice cream day in cafeteria is now on Wednesday’s.

Writing- We are on Unit 5 of writing. We are working on writing lowercase letters, as well as writing sentences and whole words. We are practicing beginning sentences with a capital letter, ending with a period, and leaving spaces between words.

You can help your child by working with them on comparing numbers 0-10 (identifying  the number that is greater or smaller) and writing numbers that are one fewer or one more than a given number. 
In Spring Math, we are still working on finding the missing number up to 10. You can help by working with your child on identifying and writing numbers up to 10, and counting forward and backward up to 10.

Writing- We are on Unit 4 of writing. We are still working on writing lowercase letters, as well as writing sentences and whole words. We are practicing beginning sentences with a capital letter, ending with a period, and leaving spaces between words.
