Week of October 14th-18th

As my kiddos said "today is the best day ever!", we had so much fun at the kindergarten Fall Festival! A big THANK YOU to the volunteers who made the day so special!!

Reminders:
Please continue to practice sight words with your child! I will be testing each student on their sight word list this week. Once your child has mastered one list, you may move onto the next list. I will send home a paper if your child mastered a list.

What we are learning:

Reading: This week we are starting Unit 2, Week 1. The story of the week is Flowers. The question of the week is: How are flowers unique? The phonics skill is initial /a/ spelled Aa. The comprehension skill is compare and contrast. Grammar skill is nouns. The amazing words are: seeds, fruits, buds, stem, bloom, petals. The high-frequency words are: have, is.
Math: We will be continuing with Unit 1: Numbers 0-10. The essential question is: How do we read, write, and count numbers up to 5?
Writing: We will continue with Unit 2 of writing. We will be working on writing capital letters and the number 6.
Science: We will be doing flower activities to go along with our story of the week Flowers.
